Whether you spent your childhood on family fishing trips or coloring on the walls (naughty child), these works are sure to stir up old memories. They don't shy away from aging or entrapment. A variety of subjects and types of poetry -- thanks for teaching me what a sestina is!
The writing is richly descriptive; the author doesn't shy away from a metaphor, and everything takes on a personality, from blades of grass to houses to pieces in a game of checkers. Still, most of the works are quick reads that grab you and don't let your mind wander. There's a good use of complementary poems, following grandmother with grandfather, seasons with times of day, ancient creation stories with modern rediscoveries of those artifacts.
A couple of oddities about the formatting made it tough to differentiate between the style and poorly placed page breaks. Not quite the beach whimsy I was looking for, but a worthwhile read all the same. (There's another collection of works trying to break out of this that I'd love to see, with spirits of nature and animals, dream catchers and creation myths.)
What a wonderful showcase of how writing can both open your world and your heart.
A very entertaining collection of poems with a wide spectrum of emotion. I would recommend this book to people of all ages. I'm looking forward to seeing more from this author!

Phenomenal collection of poetry that really speaks to the inner child that lives inside everyone. Some poems have surprise twists, while others really capture a scenic setting. Some of my favorites were Lucid Dreams, Lost In Winter, Summer, and A Rare Gift. Excellent and highly recommended for anyone who really enjoys the beauty of poetry!
